About this workshop
Some of the most remarkable things begin as what others throw away. Old newspapers, Water, Glue. Materials so ordinary they are almost invisible. In this workshop, they become the foundation for something entirely new. Layer by layer, you will tear, shape, build, and sculpt recycled paper into a three dimensional form that slowly reveals its own character. Every fold, every texture, every decision made by your hands becomes part of the final piece. Papier mâché invites you to slow down, trust the process, and discover how creativity often emerges through experimentation rather than planning. Along the way, it also offers a simple reminder that sustainability does not begin with grand gestures. Sometimes, it begins by seeing new possibilities in what already exists. Take your sculpture home as proof that transformation is always possible for materials, for ideas, and perhaps even for the way you see the world.
I always begin by showing that the most ordinary materials, old newspaper, glue, water, can become something three-dimensional and full of character. I guide participants through each stage while encouraging them not to over-plan and to let the form develop organically. What never stops surprising me is how different each person's result looks with the exact same materials, proof that creativity cannot be standardised. I hope participants leave with the awareness that sustainable practice can begin right inside our own art studios.
