About this workshop
Before digital cameras and instant images, photographs were made with sunlight. Light itself became the artist, leaving behind delicate blue and white impressions that captured a moment in time.
In this workshop, you'll discover the timeless process of cyanotype printing using light-sensitive paper, natural objects gathered from Bali, and the sun above you. Arrange leaves, flowers, and found treasures into your own composition, then watch as sunlight slowly reveals the image before your eyes. Water completes the process, transforming your creation into a striking Prussian blue print. There is something quietly beautiful about letting nature take part in the creative process. You prepare, you compose, and then you wait. The final result is shaped not only by your hands, but by light itself. Take your print home as a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful creations begin by slowing down, trusting the process, and allowing the world around you to become your creative partner.
In this class, I invite participants into a collaboration between human and nature, where the sun shapes the final result, and our role is simply to set the stage. I explain the chemistry briefly, but what matters more is helping everyone feel it: what does it mean to wait, to let go, and to let light do its work? This class has taught me patience in ways I didn't expect, and I hope participants carry that same lesson home, that the most beautiful art sometimes comes from the courage to hand part of the process over to something larger than ourselves.
