About this workshop
Begin by learning how batik patterns are created and understanding the role of wax and color in the process. Choose or develop your own motif, then apply it to a 30 × 30 cm piece of fabric using a traditional canting or batik stamp. Once the design is complete, participants will continue with the coloring and dyeing process, discovering how each stage transforms the fabric into a unique piece of art. The workshop offers a balance between traditional craftsmanship and personal creativity, making it suitable for beginners as well as those interested in exploring Indonesian textile arts.
The workshop introduces participants to the beauty of Indonesian batik through a guided and hands-on process. With guidance from the facilitator, participants learn traditional techniques while exploring their own creativity and creating a personal batik piece.
