About this workshop
There is a particular satisfaction in pressing ink onto a surface and lifting it to find something you made with your own hands staring back at you.
Linocut is one of the most direct forms of printmaking. You carve your design into a linoleum plate, slowly, deliberately, working in reverse, then ink it, press it onto paper or fabric, and peel it back. Bold lines. Graphic shapes. A visual language that is entirely your own.
This workshop will take you through the full process, from the first mark on the plate to the finished print. You will leave with original work, on paper, on fabric, on a tote bag you can carry through the streets of Bali.
Every print is unique.
I teach linocut with one guiding principle: dare to cut. Every mark made with the gouge cannot be undone
, and that's exactly what makes it extraordinary. I stay close during that first moment participants press the tool into the lino, through the meditative quiet of everyone working in focus, until the shared joy of the first print on paper. What I hope they take home is the understanding that being fully present in a moment that cannot be repeated is itself a form of art.
